In literary theories and criticisms, the approaches placing the work in the center ignore the properties of author and the period he/she lives in and its influence on the author. However, the humans are by nature social beings and isolating them from their own periods means self-negation in a sense. The language and language properties used when creating the work embody the characteristics and codes of the period it has been written. In this regard, we conducted this study in order to reveal how a newspaper report, which is a pragmatic text, is reflected to a literature work or how and why a pragmatic text is used in a literary work with İki Şehid-i Aşk (Two Martyrs of Love) titled story written by Kırsehirli Mehmet Fevzi, who is one of the authors of Second Constitutional Period. In this study, we also translated this story from Ottoman Turkish to Latin letters, included the pictures in the original text and presented it to the attention of the readers and literary historians.
