Özet

A country's image is created through a combination of characteristics that a nation has, namely social, political, cultural, economic, geopolitical, and so forth. There has been much public debate over how Turkey is perceived by the Arab world culturally, socially and politically, and over the high degree of positivity in the deciphering of Turkish image by Arab society in recent years. Political powers, public opinion leaders and the media play pivotal roles in managing, guiding, and occasionally reconstructing perceptions. Research suggests that perceptions of Turkish and Arabian peoples regarding one another are not chronic, images are likely to change seasonally, and the media plays a significant role in shaping images. Movies and TV series can rapidly penetrate into people’s minds, thus modifying their perceptions. Furthermore, they have the power to create images concerning people and places (and so forth) that affect people’s ideas and enable them to adopt a stance on certain issues. Furthermore, they have the power to create images concerning people and places (and so forth) that affect people’s ideas and enable them to adopt a stance on certain issues. An effective management of the image of a nation is only possible through the identification of its current status. The present study will be carried out among Kuwait university students studying in Kuwait, which enjoys one of the highest income levels in the Arab World. The main objective of the study is to identify whether there are differences between the Kuwaiti students who watch Turkish TV series and those who do not, regarding their perceptions of Turkey's country image and to determine what effects Turkish TV series might have on shaping their perceptions of Turkey's country image. To that end, a survey will be administered to the participants in order to reveal their images of Turkish people and Turkey. In the conclusion of the study, an attempt will be made to identify any potential positive and negative perceptions of Turkish national image.
