Abstract


Evaluation of Teachers' School Preference Criteria in Terms of School Management

In this study, it is aimed to evaluate the criteria that teachers consider while choosing school in terms of school management. In this context, it is aimed to determine the preferred factors of a school and to examine the preferred characteristics of a school for the employees in terms of school management. In this study, which is carried out qualitatively and by interviewing in the direction of this general aim, the criteria that teacher and teacher candidates who have teaching experience and no teacher experience have taken into account in school choices were determined and differentiated and similar directions were revealed among these criteria. In this direction, the study group was established by determining the criteria of "experience" in the research. Accordingly, a total of 80 participants, 40 experienced teachers and 40 non-experienced teacher candidates, took part in the study. The data obtained by the interview form in the research were analyzed by means of descriptive analysis and the findings presented on the tables with participant information and frequency values. As a result, it has been found that the experienced teachers take into account school management, school physical facilities and equipment, school location and transportation in school preferences most. Teachers who did not have experience on the other side expressed the access to school criteria most. The most striking difference is that the inexperienced teacher candidates did not express any criteria regarding the parent profile. Therefore, it was understood that before the start of teaching profession, the location, transportation and success of the school were preliminary in preference of school for the teachers, after starting the profession the school administration affected all the factors.
