Abstract


Traditional Games Played In School In Early Childhood And Their Analysis In Terms Of Values Education

Early childhood is a period in which games play an important role in children’s education. Traditional games are games based on cooperation that have been played by children in the past and inherited from generations to generation to date and help children to communicate. This research aimed to explore the values that can be offered to children through traditional games which can be played in schools in the preschool period.. The document analysis method of qualitative research models was used in the research. 8 traditional games that can be played in schools were addressed in terms of the values specified by the Ministry of National Education, and the games were subjected to a descriptive analysis. As concluded in the research, among the relevant values, “responsibility” is present in 8 games, “respect” in 8 games, “empathy” in 4 games, “justice” in 3 games, “cooperation” in 3 games, “confidence” in 2 games, “truth and honesty” in 2 games, “solidarity” in 2 games, “courage” in 1 game, “freedom” in 1 game, “kindness” in 1 game, and “love” in 1 game. Furthermore, it was found that children could be equipped with the said values through these 8 traditional games.
